Acid baths, dermabrasion, chemical peels, laser resurfacing, facelift surgery… Why do we destroy our skin to improve its appearance? Maybe all the burning, grinding, cutting, and chemistry isn’t really the best path to good health. Cryofacial™ is a noninvasive process that makes your skin look more youthful and wholesome. But it’s more than a beauty treatment. Cryofacial™ is a process for health.
The Cryofacial™ Process
Here’s how Cryofacial works. You relax in a semi-reclined position. Our certified technician then checks to make sure your face is dry and devoid of makeup and that you are not wearing jewelry near the treatment site. The technician then uses a sophisticated hose to direct a stream of very cold, dry nitrogen over the surface of your face, usually for about three minutes. It is cold, but most people don’t find it uncomfortable. If you’ve ever stuck your face in a deep freeze to find a frozen steak at the bottom, you might find the feeling similarly refreshing.
When the process is finished, you will probably find that your pores are smaller, a result of vasoconstriction. You may also see a new firmness and tightness in your skin, caused by increased collagen production. Any inflammation or puffiness your skin had will likely be visibly reduced. Your skin may take on a glow, similar to the way it looks when you come in from the cold in winter. These effects will last 2-3 weeks.
Cryofacial™ for Health
If you continue with the sessions, say every 3 weeks, you will increase the permanency of these effects and see changes in the texture and firmness of the skin. In addition, over time, you will likely see a brightening of dark spots and a fading of lines and wrinkles.
All of this occurs as a result of improved circulation. When the cold nitrogen first hits your skin, the blood vessels and capillaries undergo severe vasoconstriction. This is an automatic reaction nature uses to keep your core temperature from dropping. When the cold stops, these same vessels enjoy a rapid vasodilation, bringing a fresh supply of blood to the surface of your face. This is what causes your glow. The arrival of the new blood flushes out the existing blood, which takes any lingering toxins with it.
Preparing for a Cryofacial™
If you think Cryofacial™ might be for you, there are steps you can take to make the session as comfortable and effective as possible. First, if you’ve been using injectables, such as Botox, wait at least two weeks between your injectable treatment and your Cryofacial™. Second, avoid heavy exfoliation before your session. In fact, in the run up to your session, don’t try any new skin products, as they could irritate your skin. Drink plenty of water to make sure your skin is hydrated when you arrive. Don’t arrive with heavy makeup on. No makeup would be best.
The ultimate result of your Cryofacial™ will be stronger, firmer, more elastic skin. But the healthier appearance is not just cosmetic. The improved circulation caused by the process means your face doesn’t just look healthier. It is healthier. Book a Cryofacial™ with Peak Recovery & Health Center today.
